October 17 - Cruising off the Horn of Africa

There's not much to report today.  It's another day of a painted ship on a painted ocean.  It could not be more calm than it has been today.  Despite that, the temperature was fairly comfortable and we enjoyed sitting on the veranda watching the sea and clouds.  We’ve been eating breakfast and lunch on the veranda outside the Colonnade Restaurant, right at the stern of the ship.  It’s very pleasant and one of our favorite waiters is there.  A side note, most of the staff we encounter know all the passengers by name and greet us that way.  I find it amazing that they are able to do this.

We noticed at both breakfast and lunch that down on deck 6 on both starboard and port sides there were guards posted.  A few are in Seabourn jumpsuits but one is dressed all in black and has his face covered so only his eyes are visible.  They also have a bag of some kind of gear stashed next to them.  We noticed that whenever we passed a ship they became more attentive.  I think we all feel more secure knowing  they are there.

Our security.  See his gear by the steps?

Would you go fishing 80 miles offshore in this boat?

Tonight was the event called “Rock the Boat.”  We thoroughly enjoyed it last year on the Quest so went again.  The band is set up poolside and plays lets of great rock songs.  All of us seasoned citizens get up and dance and have a ball!  No inhibitions or trying to look sedate and staid.

Oh, our trivia team has now made it into 2nd place!  It’s a miracle.
