August 24 - Time to wake this blog up!

We're not far away from our next voyage so it seems time to write something here.  This has been a pretty momentous year for us.  First, in April our first grandchild was born!  He's Alfred Eugene and of course we think he's very cute. (No bias here!)

Little Alfred

Two weeks ago we went back to Al's youth when we attended his 50th high school class reunion.  The Eastern Shore of Virginia hasn't changed a whole lot in all those years.  There are more traffic lights and a little development but overall it's much the same.  It was interesting to watch the old classmates greet each other.  In most cases they didn't recognize one another.  The place may not have changed, but the people certainly have!  We were glad we went; it's not every day one can celebrate a 50th anything.

This past weekend we celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary.  It's been a wonderful, sometimes wild ride.  We have been blessed to be able to see and do so many things, and hopefully we have many more years of adventures to share with each other.  We've changed just a little over the years.

Next month we leave for our next cruise on the Seabourn Odyssey.  We'll spend a few days in Venice first and then sail through the Mediterranean and across the Atlantic.  Despite the fact that we've done similar itineraries in the past, most of the ports will be new because this ship can stop in much smaller ports than the big ships we've been on before.  It will be a little more leisurely than our last adventure through the Middle East to India.

When we come home we'll face the second most momentous event of the year.  After more than 29 years we've bought a new house!  We said we'd never move again, but we found a lovely house in nearby Williamsburg that we really liked.  So, after we come back from the cruise we'll pack up and move.  The thought of the move is daunting, but it's also exciting.  We're looking forward to many years of making more great memories in our new home.
