April 30 - Lazy day in port

Today we are still in Getxo as I said in my last blog post. The sun came out mid-morning and the temperature is actually pretty comfortable.  It’s nicer than the last two days and we can only hope that this weather will continue.

We sail at 3:30 PM and since I pretty well covered the sights of Getxo yesterday, I stayed onboard. If truth be told, I basically did not much of anything constructive.  I met some new friends, a lovely couple from Sussex.  They wish that King Charles would revoke Harry and Meghan’s titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex because they don’t like those two having a title that at least nominally represents them.  Can’t say that I blame them.

In the afternoon we played trivia again and we extended our winning streak to five, a clean sweep so far.  People are getting a little testy about it.  It’s not like we can even throw a game because we have a member who has some kind of a learning disability and she clearly very much wants to win. It turns out we’re better guessers than other teams are, so c’est la vie.

Tonight we had the Chef’s tasting menu, which was exquisite.  After dinner I went to the show which featured a classical pianist  named Naomi Edemariam.  She was absolutely wonderful.  Her program included a selection of pieces that one doesn’t normally hear as piano solos. She played things like the Toreador’s song from Carmen by Bizet and the fiery sabre dance by Khachaturian.  She did a fantastic job.  After the show I went down to the club which was nearly empty.  I guess last night’s dance party must have tired everyone out.  I, however, did get up and dance all by myself, so maybe I’ve finally lost my last inhibitions.  I must say that when I do dance I sleep much better.

Well, that’s all for now.  No pictures today.

I agree, too! Glad you have gotten rid of that last inhibition! There’s still plenty of time for the others to join the dance party—- maybe the next leg of the cruise will welcome some dancers onboard! It’s almost time for your special day so celebrate BIG!
