October 13, 2024 - A Quest for new places

This morning I’ll be on my way for my next adventure.  My first stop will be New England to visit with my family for a few days.  It will be nice to spend some time with them and an added plus is that it’s “Leaf Peeper” season in NH which is always lovely to see.  Near the end of the week I’ll fly to Montreal where I’ll board the Seabourn Quest.  The little maps on the right side of the blog show the route I’ll take.  I haven’t been up the St. Lawrence River or to Maritime Canada before and I’m looking forward to seeing that part of the world.  The other new area which attracted me to these back-to-back cruises is the South Pacific.  I’ve never been to French Polynesia, the Cook Islands or Tonga, so I’ll be able to check off a few more places on my list.

My cruises end in Sydney and I’m spending a couple of nights.  On my last trip I was only there for a few hours each time.  I have tickets for a show in the Sydney Opera House one evening because I didn’t have a chance to see that world famous building except from afar.  Since I am going to be on the other side of the world I decided to  visit someplace sort of in the neighborhood that I’d been to, but only for a couple of nights a very long time ago. To that end I’m flying to Singapore where I’ll spend a few nights and then head home.  I’ll be back near the end of January.

I have several friends I’ve met in my travels who will be on most of the cruise with me.  I’m looking forward to seeing them.   A couple of them are avid Trivia players too and we’ll have lots of sea days to play.  I’m hoping we do a better job of remembering the answers to some of the questions asked on previous cruises.  It’s maddening how often we’ll hear a question we’ve heard before and we can’t for the life of us remember the answer. Nonetheless  we always have a good time together.  Along the way in some of the ports we’ll visit I’m meeting friends.  It will be fun to see them again too.  Over the years I’ve met so many great people and we’ve stayed in touch.

I’ll try to write about the things I’m seeing and doing.  I don’t how many times I’ve gone back and looked at what I’ve written years ago to remember things I’ve seen and special moments I had with Al and in the last few years on my own.  So, let the Quest begin!

Seabourn Quest was the ship on which Al and I did our first Seabourn cruise!

Have fun Ann. We were in NH a few days ago and it was spectacular. I’m jealous on the opera house!
