Today we spent the day cruising the Adriatic on our way down the boot of Italy. The weather was beautiful and the sea was like glass. This morning we had our Meet & Greet with our 200+ Cruise Critic members. The Captain came and spoke briefly. He’s nicknamed “Captain McCharming “ and I can understand why.
This afternoon we began the great 2009 Scrabble tournament. The games were hotly contested. The winner won’t be announced until the last day of the cruise. Late in the afternoon we joined some of our friends for afternoon trivia. We didn’t win the luggage tags. The questions were tough!
This evening we ate at Sabatinis as we sailed through the Strait of Messina between the Italian mainland and Sicily. It has become a tradition that we ate there because there are windows from which you can see both sides. At times it’s so narrow that you can see car lights. Unlike the first two times we went through, tonight there was no lightning storm nor were there fireworks ashore as last year. Nonetheless, dinner was excellent and the view was still good.
